Things Look a Little Different at Locke, but Our Values Haven’t Changed

Posted on October 26, 2021

Since 1945 when Locke Funeral Services first opened its doors, we’ve seen the needs of our community change and grow significantly. And for generations, Locke’s has continually evolved to meet those needs, expanding services and adding locations. We’re excited to continue that tradition today by unveiling our updated look.

But while things may look a little different at Locke’s, one thing you can count on is our continued commitment to serving the needs of the community.

The New Locke

Locke Funeral Services is, always has been, and always will be a family business. To better tell this story, we’re updating our identity, starting with our look. These changes are designed to help identify all our services as part of Locke’s family of funeral homes. The decision is also one geared toward future growth, as we continue to expand on our already solid foundation of contemporary service offerings.

“A growing number of people seek alternative ways to honor and remember a life.” said Eric J. Locke, funeral director. “But everyone, regardless of faith or tradition, instinctively seeks connection with others when they experience a loss, and Locke is here to help.”

Since its founding, Locke’s has held the same commitment to service, and to emphasize that long history of care, we’ve developed a new pledge to honor our heritage and look to our future, “Generations of Compassion.”

“Locke’s is honored by the trust placed in us by the families in Black Hawk County,” Eric said. “This new pledge honors this trust from the generations we’ve served in the past, as well as the generations we will continue to serve long into the future.”

Bringing Us All Together

The next change you’ll notice is that all our locations will now bear the Locke name. This identifies us as part of one family of funeral homes, bringing us all closer together. These locations will be renamed to: Locke on 4th, Locke in La Porte City, Locke Garden View Chapel, and Locke at Tower Park.

Locke at Tower Park is a new facility located at 4140 Kimball Ave. in Waterloo. It will be home to a number of new and expanded services. Additionally, the offerings at Kearns Funeral Service, which was purchased by the Lockes in 2013, will be moved to this location. We will have more information on Locke at Tower Park soon, along with an open house event.

We’re Still Here for You

While location names and the look have changed, we want to assure you—you will find the same compassion, experience, and expertise you have come to expect from Locke’s.

“Everyone in the Locke family and our entire staff plan to continue to work for Locke Funeral Services,” Eric said. “We all look forward to the new facility, and our plan is to bring new jobs to Waterloo and add even more caring funeral professionals to help you when we open Locke at Tower Park.”

We remain committed to serving the community. We appreciate your support as we continue to evolve Locke’s services to meet your needs.
