Carrie Jean Collins was born in Waterloo, Iowa on December 25, 1955, to the late Allin and Hattie M. Collins.  She was educated in the Waterloo Community School System.

She attended Hawkeye Community College where she earned a degree in Political Science. She was also certified in Juvenile Probation Officer.  She worked in many occupations in the city of Waterloo, bartender, caterer and skilled in culinary arts. She was also employed by the Waterloo Community School District as a Instructional Assistant for many years and at the Iowa Beef Processing.

During her youth, she attended the St. Luke Church of the First Born under the pastorate of the late Bishop George Greer. In her adult life, a young minister, Ben Shepherd, shared the gospel with her, she felt the tug of the Spirit of God, received Christ in her life, was baptized, began her walk with the Lord.  Carrie’s life changed dramatically as she continued to say yes to the Lord.  “She changed her life and now she is free!”

She leaves to cherish her children: Adalene, Cecillia, Lucretia, Antoinette and Tonesha, all of Waterloo. Her sisters, Dorothy Jean Collins (CA), Lucy (Pastor Victor) Evans, Georgia Collins (IA), Anna (Deacon Thomas) Jefferson, Janette Collins (IA).
