Dale W. Bright, Sr., 83, of Waterloo and formerly of Janesville, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at MercyOne Waterloo of Covid-19.

Dale was born August 25, 1937 in Hawkeye, the son of Harold and Phyllis (Hull) Bright. 

He graduated from Oelwein High School in 1955.

He served in the United States Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960.

Dale married Rita J. Ratchford on August 26, 1961 in Independence.

He worked as an electrician for 42 years until retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Local International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 288 in Waterloo. 

Dale was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in South Texas.

Survived by his wife, Rita Bright of Waterloo; four sons, Dale (Nicole) Bright, Jr. of Janesville, Stephen Bright of Andover, MN, Mark (Lisa) Bright of Dysart, and John (Sarah) Bright, Sr. of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, Joshua (Kayla) Bright, Melissa (Jeff) Pietan, Nick Bright, Chris Bright, John Bright, Jr. and Samantha Wyckoff; three great-grandchildren, Baylee, Emma and Oliver; brother, Donald Bright of West Union; and sister, LaVonne Rolfs of Oelwein. 

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert in infancy and Richard Bright; and sister, Shirley Benham.

    Al Browne, Nov 22, 2020.    I worked with Dale off and on since 1967.   He was a good man, a good friend, a good electrician, and a damn good union man.  It was an honor to have known him.   Goodbye, old friend.

    Dave and I send you our sympathy.  We were so sorry to hear about Dale.  Not having our cousins reunion this year, we didn't get to visit with you  We will cherish our memories.
