Public visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 at La Porte City Funeral Home with cremation rites to follow.

Dean Allen Lange, age 58, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of La Porte City died Friday, June 29, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He was born November 14, 1959 in Waterloo the son of Marion “Bud” and Doris Walker Lange.  He married Brenda Roney on August 8, 1992 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua she preceded him in death on August 8, 2014.  On June 23, 2015 Dean met Jackie Schropp and they fell in love, treasuring each moment spent together.  During their travels they looked for great food finds by motorcycle, plane and car.  Chasing down a lot of 80’s Hair Bands and three trips to Mexico were among their many adventures.

In his earlier years, Dean worked for the Utility Equipment Co. and then was a professional truck driver for Decker Trucking for 5 years, logging over a million miles.  Dean later was transportation director for Union Community Schools in La Porte City and then worked for Ryder Trucking in the logistics department.

Survived by: his father, Marion “Bud” Lange of La Porte City; his wife, Jackie Schropp-Lange of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Cody (Donna) Ellis of La Porte City and Ryan Currie of Naples, FL; two daughters, Nickole (Matt) Stanford and Heidi (Brad) Burke all of La Porte City; a stepson, Thomas Williams; a stepdaughter, Cameron Williams, all of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren, Maddie, Austin, Morgan, Dakota, Jack, Gabe, Sierra “Sissy”, Liea, Isabel and Alivia; a great granddaughter, Willow; a sister, Julie (Orville) Miller of La Porte City and three nephews, James Frost of Waterloo, Justin (Janelle) Frost and Michael Frost, all of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by his mother, Doris and his wife, Brenda.
