Biography

Lela F. Arbuckle, 82, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at Martin Health Care Center in Cedar Falls.

Lela was born Sept. 18, 1930, to Donnie W. and Myrtle V. Minor in Chariton County, Mo. She married Dean Bailey in 1945 and had two children, Sheila & Melvin. They later divorced. She married Everett L. Arbuckle in Aug., 1955 and had three children, Diane, Brenda, and David. Lela and Everett were married for 54 years before he died in 2009.

Lela worked at Powers Manufacturing and later worked at Waterloo Tent and Tarp for over 20 years. She was an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Evansdale. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and collecting Delft Blue pottery, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Lela is survived by her sons, Melvin (Kathleen) Bailey of Evansdale and David (Loraine) Arbuckle of Haven, KS; her daughters, Sheila (Dean) Cummings of Evansdale, Diane (Jeffrey) McConkey of Greeley, CO and Brenda (Larry) Kimmerle of Winona, MN; her stepchildren, Connie Gill of Paris, IL, Marilyn Talbot of Hinesboro, IL, and Everett L. (Gail) Arbuckle, Jr. of Paris, IL; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Viola (Jerry) Cross of Quincy, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her parents; an infant brother; and a grandson, Adam Luloff.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Evansdale with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Church.
